Phia van der Spuy, Business Development Director

Phia van der Spuy is International Housing Solutions (IHS)’s Director of Business Development in Johannesburg, South Africa. Ms. van der Spuy is responsible for all of the company’s new business activities with its developer partners. She recently joined IHS after serving as the Chief Financial Officer of Eurocape Holdings, a real estate development firm. In this position Ms. van der Spuy represented Eurocape in external finance related negotiations, performed balance sheet re-engineering to optimize funding mechanisms, led the development of systems and processes designed to support the finance function, oversaw the approval and processing of revenue, expenditure, and deviation control mechanisms, and coordinated the preparation of financial statement.

For the last 15 years, Ms. van der Spuy has worked in property related financial positions with some of the largest financial institutions in South Africa. Before joining Europcape, Ms. van der Spuy held a position with the property finance department at ABSA Bank. In this role she sourced new transactions both development and acquisition finance and performed analysis on these deals. She also worked at Rand Merchant Bank, Investec and the Standard Bank of South Africa.
